Kamal Adnan Malas, owner of Eng. Dr. Kamal Malas and Associates, has 35+ years of practical experience. He has extensive expertise in law and
engineering and has two degrees: Civil Engineering, 1976, and Law, 1992. Having two degrees enables him to immediately understand the effects of each case from both sides – juridical and technical – making him distinguished in this field. He is accredited as a structural engineer in Dubai municipality and accredited in many international arbitration centres, and is accredited as an arbitrator and engineering expert in Dubai courts and all United Arab Emirates courts. Dr Malas has participated in more than 75 arbitration cases before the following bodies: UAE courts; Dubai courts; Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC); and International Chamber of
Commerce (ICC). He has handled 500+ Real Estate and Construction Disputes cases before UAE Courts, and Dubai courts. Dr Malas has deep knowledge in Engineering Contracts Forms, including FIDIC forms of contracts. He has authored many articles on arbitrations, project management, and intellectual property of drawings.
He has been invited to speak in many International Conferences about arbitration, engineering contracts and real estate disputes, especially in
the FIDIC (International Federation for Civil Engineers), DRBF (Dispute Resolution Board Foundation), IDRI (International Dispute Resolution Institute), C5, and many other conferences and training courses.
Dr Malas’ practical experiences include cases handled in both Languages Arabic and English. He is the Author of the Book “Arbitration Award –
Dubai Supreme Court Rules”, in Arabic and English. In 2014, Dr Malas invented new mechanisms for resolving construction disputes: M-DAB (Modern-Dispute Adjudication Board) and M-DRB (Modern-Dispute Review Board) which he believes will be widely applied
internationally.
Dr Malas is a member of Order of Engineers (Syria), Association of Engineers (UAE), Society of Construction Law (UAE), Dispute Resolution
Board Foundation (USA). The services of Kamal Malas & associates cover the fields of construction
- including claim consulting, dispute resolution, dispute avoidance, S to E system - and Real Estate - including advice about investing, managing of under development projects, representing the owners in dispute resolution, and litigation support.
